Funny Picture of Spa Baby Relaxing With Face Mask
Honey Face Masks to Make at Home. Honey has been known as the perfect food, with vitamins, amino acids, good bacteria, micronutrients, and water. Did you know that it is almost the perfect skin food too?! All for the very same ingredients. As an added bonus, honey is also anti-bacterial and humectant, it nurtures the skin gently, straight from the hive. When you blend raw honey with other natural ingredients, it gets even better! Using honey as a face mask every now and again can help to maintain a clearer and more radiant complexion. Honey face masks can be made with ingredients already in your kitchen: green tea, cinnamon, lavender oil, and even activated charcoal can be whipped together to create a skin treatment.
Honey has natural antibiotic properties that make it ideal for treating acne-prone skin. Hydrogen peroxide is present in honey's chemical makeup. This, combined with the super-saturation of sugars, makes honey a death sentence for bacteria. When blended with plant oils (like sunflower oil) fruits (berries), and other natural ingredients, honey masks can be very purifying and cleansing to the skin.
Everyone's skin type is different. Some people are dry, and develop dull patches of skin. Others have overactive oil glands, making their skin oily. Yet other people may have combination skin. Sensitive skin can be so frustrating. All skin types come with challenges, and today there doesn't seem to be "normal" skin.
Whatever skin type you have, honey is your friend. It is important to completely cleanse the face after using any of these masks, so you don't have any sticky residue post-treatment. After washing the face (use either just warm water or your favorite cleanser), tone the skin and apply your favorite moisturizer.
Easy DIY Honey Face Masks
To treat your face, we've created a few masks that target individual skin types. It is always a good idea to experiment and research on what will suit your skin perfectly! Feel free to mix things up, add or subtract ingredients, and concoct your very own honey face mask.
For Dry and Dull Skin
For dry skin, try blending two tablespoons of pure Eastern Shore Honey with a tablespoon of ripe mashed avocado and just a little oil. Whip the ingredients together in a small bowl, and apply to the face and neck with your fingertips. Leave on for 10 minutes, wash off with warm water and a washcloth, and tone the skin with witch hazel on a cotton round. Finish off by applying your favorite toner and moisturizer to lock in hydration.
DIY Honey Avocado Mask
Avocado and honey are as good to eat as they are for your skin! Try this mask one night and see the difference it makes in your skin. You'll love the way it leaves your skin feeling.

This Honey Oat Scrub for Face and Body can be treated as a face mask and left on the skin for 10 minutes or so. It's especially effective if you add whole fat yogurt to the mix. This recipe leaves the skin feeling delightful. My favorite thing to do is to put it in the refrigerator and cool it for a day or so before using it. The skin seems to respond well to it.

To brighten dull skin, mash a ripe organic strawberry with two tablespoons of honey and one tablespoon plain Greek yogurt. Again, avoid the eye area when applying this mask! The fruit acids in the strawberry and the enzymes of the yogurt help to break down dead skin cells to combat dullness. Leave on for 10 (ish) minutes, wash off, and follow with a toner and moisturizer.
For Acne Prone Skin
To combat irritated or sensitive skin, pulse one to two tablespoons of old-fashioned oats into a fine powder in your blender and combine with two tablespoons of honey. Add in just one drop of lavender essential oil and blend well. If desired, use a teaspoon of plant-milk in the mix as well. Apply to the face, avoiding the eye and mouth area, and leave on for five to ten minutes. Wash off with warm water, tone and moisturize the skin, and you're ready to go! This easy at-home facial will make you feel better. Use this treatment when you and your skin are in need of love, relaxation, and rejuvenation. The combination of gentle ingredients in this Bee Well Face Mask lightly exfoliates the skin while absorbing pollutants and dead skin cells.

Cleanse and treat acne and blemish-prone skin
Mix together two tablespoons of honey, 4 tablespoons of nut milk and one capsule of activated charcoal. If you can't find or don't have activated charcoal, you can substitute two teaspoons of bentonite or rose clay to help gently cleanse the skin.
The activated charcoal pulls grime and excess oil from the pores. It's important to avoid the eyes with this mask-as it can be drying. After treating for ten minutes, gently wash off with warm water. Tone your skin with your favorite toner and follow with a moisturizer. Use this mask once a week to help cleanse clogged pores and assist acne-prone skin.
If making your own mask is not something you have time or interest in doing, it's ok. We happen to have a line of beautiful dry masks that you can mix yourself at home, for a home-alone spa night or as a companion to a special-planned pajama party with your besties!
